Platelet Rich Plasma & Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRP/PRF)

at Monaco MedSpa in Midtown Miami, FL

As a beauty treatment, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) have become hugely popular, and for good reason. PRP is a minimally invasive medical procedure which harnesses the power of your own body to promote collagen production, resulting in improved skin texture, tone, and appearance. There is no downtime associated with this procedure, and the results can be seen after just a few treatments.

PRP and PRF are made from the patient's own blood, which is drawn, spun down and separated into its component parts.  PRP and PRF are created through a process known as centrifugation, in which a sample of your blood is spun in a machine to increase its platelet content.  The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is then injected back into the patient during the treatment process. The regenerative platelets and growth factors in PRP and PRF cause the body to respond by accelerating and increasing the regeneration of new healthy tissue in the area of treatment, promoting healing, reducing blemishes and wrinkles, and giving skin a healthy, youthful glow.

Although PRP is most commonly used for facial skin treatments, it can also be beneficial for other areas on the body, such as the under eyes, hands, neck, scalp and chest.

PRP can also be used to improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and even improve hair growth. It works by activating stem cells which act as a healing agent and stimulate the scalp to produce new and healthy hair follicles.

PRP is a safe and minimally invasive treatment that has been used for many years in numerous medical procedures. It is now commonly used for cosmetic procedures such as skin rejuvenation, facial sculpting and wrinkle reduction. PRP treatments work by utilizing the body's natural response to create new collagen and elastin, which is what helps to restore a youthful look and smooth wrinkle-free appearance.

Overall, PRP and PRF versatile and non-invasive therapies that many people are utilizing to help them achieve their desired aesthetic and medical goals.

What Is PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma is a substance that comes from the patient's own blood. The active component is platelets, which are small cells that encourage the body to rejuvenate itself and produce new, healthy cells. When the PRP is delivered into the desired treatment areas, it slowly helps to rejuvenate the tissues and create that desired smoother, youthful appearance.

PRP is not simply an anti-aging treatment. While it works great for people with wrinkles and thin, dull, and sagging skin, it is also appropriate for those with small scars, blemishes, stretch marks, hollow eyes and hair loss. When placed in the scalp in those who experience hair loss, it can actually increase the follicular blood supply, thicken the hair shaft, prevent further balding, and stimulate hair regrowth. PRP in combination with other hair loss medications and treatments can help you regrow and maintain your natural hair. Because PRP is safe and minimally invasive, it is a great choice for many patients, even people with minor underlying health concerns.

PRP for Face

One of the most requested treatment areas is the face, which is more exposed to the elements and therefore more susceptible to aging early on. What is more, many people are concerned about the appearance of their face because it is the first thing other people see. Platelet-rich plasma injections can have a rejuvenating effect and help get rid of the small wrinkles, dull skin, and textural skin imperfections with which you have been struggling.

PRP for Skin

The face is not the only area of the body that changes with age. When you visit our med spa, do not hesitate to let the providers know if you would like to have your hands and neck treated as well. These areas often experience just as much wrinkling as the face, so it is important that you address them to maintain an overall youthful look. Our physicians will be able to assess the condition of your skin and let you know how many sessions are recommended

When getting PRP to combat the negative effects of aging, you will most likely want to receive maintenance treatments once the effects begin to wear off. Initially, three PRP treatments are recommended 4 weeks apart. Then, treatments should be done every 4 to 6 months for maintenance. PRP treatments can be combined with microneedling or Morpheus8 microneedling with radiofrequency treatments.

PRP for Hair Restoration

Around 70% of men and 50% of women experience significant hair loss as they grow older. While this is a natural process, it can be distressing, especially if it occurs at a young age. Luckily, there are various treatments that we can prescribe to help restore your hair at Monaco MedSpa, especially if you act early and do not delay getting help once the hair loss begins. Either alone or in combination with other medications and treatments, PRP is a great option for hair regrowth because it is effective, because it is based on your body’s own natural ingredients, and because it provides you with long-lasting results.

Once you have completed your initial course of treatment, you will only need to return for maintenance appointments around once every 4 to 6 months or as needed. In the meantime, you can enjoy your newly restored head of hair without necessarily having to take pills or undergo painful and expensive hair transplant surgery.

What is PRF?

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is also a substance that comes from your own blood. PRP solution is obtained from your own blood and then is thickened into a fibrin matrix to create PRF. PRF is then placed in the under eye region, including the tear trough area. The active components in PRF are platelets and growth factors. These small cells and growth factors encourage your body to rejuvenate itself and produce new collagen and dermal tissue in the under eye region.

PRF is an ideal treatment for the under eye region, nasolabial folds, periauricular area, pre-jowl sulci, and marionette lines. More than one treatment may be required. During your consultation, our physician can give you an estimate of how many treatment sessions you will require, based on the amount of tissue deficit you have in the area you want treated.

PRF for Under Eyes, Eyelids & Tear Troughs

When PRF is delivered into the desired treatment areas, including the under eyes, eyelids, and tear troughs, it helps to rejuvenate the tissues in these delicate, thin areas and helps to create a fullness there similar to hyaluronic acid fillers but more natural-looking because it is using your own blood components. PRF is an ideal option for those patients that do not want under eye filler.

Depending on the hollowness of the under eye area, more than one treatment session may be needed. Almost everyone is a good candidate for this undereye treatment, but a consultation with our doctor beforehand is highly recommended.

How PRP Pure Spin Treatment Works

When you come to our med spa for your initial appointment, we will discuss your concerns, check your medical record, and explain the various options. If you choose PRP injections, we will let you know how many sessions are recommended for your condition and how often you may need to visit us. In most cases, patients can benefit from 3 to 4 treatments, every 4 to 6 weeks.

At the med spa, your provider will draw your blood and then spin it in the Pure Spin device. We use Double Spin technology to extract the maximum number of platelets from your blood. At the same time, we apply numbing cream or a local anesthetic to your treatment site, so you will not feel any

pain. Once this has taken effect, we will inject the PRP under your skin and also apply it topically if your are getting it with microneedling. You can leave the med spa right away since there are no expected side effects or complications.

Who is this right for?

As mentioned, nearly everyone can get PRP injections because they do not involve harsh chemicals or surgery. Despite this, we will invite you to an initial consultation before allowing you to take part since we want to make sure that you are a good candidate. Patients who are currently pregnant are not suitable for treatment, and those who have an infection in the treatment area will need to delay their treatment until the skin is completely healed and free of infection.

The best candidates for PRP are people who are experiencing mild to moderate signs of aging or hair loss. The growth factors contained in your own blood are a great way of addressing these concerns holistically. Depending on the state of your skin and the extent of the damage, we might suggest PRP on its own or in combination with some of the other treatments we offer here at the med spa.

Optimize the Look and Feel of Your Face and Skin

If you are worried about the way aging has affected your appearance, you might benefit from treatment with the PRP Pure Spin device. Platelet-rich plasma and platelet-rich fibrin injections make use of components that come from your own blood, so they are extremely safe and effective. What is more, PRP and PRF for the face, under eyes, eyelids, tear troughs, neck, decolletage, hands and scalp/hair are minimally invasive procedures that can produce long-lasting results.

PRP with Microneedling

For an added benefit to your skin, PRP can be used as a serum and microneedled directly into the skin with our incredible Rejuvapen system. After the highly concentrated PRP is separated and injected under the skin, the remaining plasma created from your PRP during the spin-down process is applied on top of the skin and administered into the epidermis with the Rejuvapen. This add-on procedure takes an additional 15 to 20 minutes and is almost entirely painless. Ask us about our PRP with microneedling packages!
